Washi - History in the Making
April - September 2008
Pupils from both Backwell (UK) and Mino (Japan) share poems and information about their own countries. A matsuri was held along with an exhibition in one of the schools in Backwell to display what has been learnt from their Japanese counter-parts. The relations between the two regions are currently ongoing.

County Upper School Gonenkai
Never on a Sunday September - October 2006
Gonenkai conducted a survey among 500 Japanese and 500 English students, to discover how they spent their Sunday. The results were shared afterwards and then discussed during a stay by Gonenkai members in Japan.
Coventry City Council - President Kennedy Youth Club
Peace, Reconciliation & Youth Culture August 2006
A group of 16 young Japanese (aged 12 to 24 years) came to Coventry to meet with members of the Kennedy Youth Club and discuss peace. It is planned that members of the Youth Club will travel to Japan in 2007.
Hampton Hill Junior School
Visit from Johyama Elementary School, Nagano June 2006
Ten children and three teachers from Johyama School lived in host families for five days. They spent three days at Hampton Hill School and attended classes as well as calligraphy and origami demonstrations.
Willoughby Primary School, Leicestershire
Visit from Komaki Elementary School, Nagano November 2005
Six children accompanied by two teachers and the head teacher from Komaki Elementary School visited Willoughby Primary and stayed with families in the village.
Gonenkai
35th Birthday Party June 2005
The Celebration included exchange visitors from Japan who met with past and present members of the youth club. Events included a visit to the Japanese School in London and discussions on how to organise an exchange, as well as a workshop to show children how to do calligraphy or origami.
Groundwork Merthyr & Rhondda Cynon Taff
Fukuoka / Kaisei Exchange May 2004
This was a continuation of the partnership between Groundwork Fukuoka and Groundwork Merthyr ∓ Rhondda Cynon Taff. The theme for this visit from Groundwork Fukuoka was 'Education for Sustainable Development'. Students from Kaisei High School took part in practical and educational activities as well as a cultural evening with partner schools in Wales.

A three day residential programme for 10 Japanese senior high school students each accompanied an English partner, co-operating to complete a number of challenges.

Anderson High School, Shetland Islands
Future Learning and Teaching (FLaT) Project November 2003 - May 2004
In this project video conferencing was used to link senior Maths students at Anderson High School with their counterparts at Nara Women's University High School. The learning and teaching through video conferencing and 'smartboard' technology aims to offer students innovative teaching strategies and learning methods in aspects of senior Maths courses.
Ingleton Middle School, Carnforth
School Newspaper exchange ongoing
Ingleton Middle School and their partner school, Hiroshima Jogakuin, have chosen groups of pupils to work together on the production of a school newspaper. These are produced each term including articles from children in both schools and used as part of a cultural exchange.
