Nobel School, Hertfordshire
Japanese Week at Nobel School
May 2008
Year 9 students were given the privellege of having a Japanese element to their normal school timetables. Kagemusha Taiko Drummers were invited to do a Taiko Workshop in which local primary schools in the area also participated.

Dragon School, Oxford
Year 5 Japanse Sports Afternoon
April 2008
A Japanese sports day was held at Dragon School for the year 5 pupils. The usual egg and spoon race and potato sack relay were replaced by traditional Japanese favourites such as the 3-legged race and a papier mache dragon shuttle relay.

Vita et Pax Preparatory School, London

28 February - 4 March 2005
During the event, organised to celebrate the culture and traditions of Japan, almost all lessons were given a Japanese flavour. The week included an introduction to Go, a performance of taiko drumming by Joji Hirota, a Samurai dance in PE and a sushi-making workshop led by Japanese parents.

The school invited Taiko West to perform and provide a series of workshops for pupils from Years 3 to 6 as part of their Arts Week. The group also provided a talk on the history of taiko drumming and gave a demonstration.

Brook Field Primary School, Swindon
Multiarts Week

The school organised workshops on Japanese theatre as part of a Multiarts Festival. Pupils from Years 5 and 6 responded enthusiastically to Noh Drama, Bunraku puppet theatre, Japanese story-telling, and Kabuki. The worked during the week to make puppets, produce scripts and music, and then gave performances to the rest of the school.

Muxton Primary School, Telford
A Celebration of Japanese Life
November 2004
An exploration of Japanese culture and society involving 350 pupils. Visiting artists provided workshops in kite-making, origami, Japanese language, calligraphy and taiko drumming. Parents and members of the local Japanese business community in Telford also participated during the week.

The Cherwell School
Year 9 Japan Day
November 2004
Around 350 Year 9 pupils participated in the event, which involved a series of interactive workshops on origami, calligraphy, kimono, food, language, games and drama. Workshops were staffed by local Japanese volunteers and lunchtime sessions on karate and koto-playing were open to all students and staff. The Japan Day received local press and TV coverage.

Arts Learning North West
Japanese Super Learning Festival (Tanabata)

A day for 300 children from across the North West of England to celebrate and experience Japanese culture through participation in workshop activities and performances. This was the culmination of a wider arts project taking place in each of 10 different schools.
