Eskdale Japanese Garden - Exhibition and Information
The Eskdale Japanese Garden was designed in 1914 but became neglected when it was sold in 1947.
In 1999, the Forestry Commission gave the local community permission to restore the garden. Thousands of hours of volunteer work have since been put into the Japanese Garden to reverse its decline.
Japan 21 supported a permanent exhibition held near the Garden itself. The exhibition covers the Garden's history, the Garden today and its ongoing rescue, and gives an introduction to the art of Japanese Gardens in general.
