Support for Teachers

The Japan Society (Japan 21) runs teacher INSET days at locations throughout the UK.

Resources to enhance teaching about Japan are also available from the office or to download from the website. These include Ready Steady NihonGO! a 10 lesson course in spoken Japanese for KS2, created by The Japan Society (Japan 21) with the Japan Foundation London Language Centre.

Looking to add a more general international dimension to school life? We can link you with a partner school in Japan or you may prefer to use the more structured framework of the Japan UK LIVE! internet based exchange.

Bring the country alive for your pupils with a visit from the Japan in Your Classroom volunteers or, to find people with particular Japan-related skills, download the Access to Experts list.

Finally, details of a number of other projects and events that may be of interest to teachers:

  • Japan Foundation Secondary School Teachers' Study Tour to Japan. The 2008 application process has come to an end but as this is an annual event be sure to watch this space for when the 2009 applications start.
