Kyoto Traditional

The former capital of Japan untill 1868 during the Imperial Restoration, Kyoto with its 2000 Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines was spared the wrath of heavy World War II bombings and was therefore able to preserve many of its local traditions. Some Kyoto's most famous sites are the Kiyomizu Temple and the Kinkakuji (Golden Pavillion).
