Mari Ono runs origami (paper-folding) workshops for children at primary and secondary school in the UK. She uses traditional chiyogami patterned paper to fold traditional origami models. She also discusses the history of origami and Japanese paper, washi.

Children are fascinated by the 'magic' of origami, while parents and teachers value the fact that it encourages manual dexterity, understanding of 3D shapes and helps to develop concentration skills.

Mari Ono's book 'The Simple Art of Japanese Papercrafts' is published by Cico Books at £12.99.
