Liz Walters has brought Japanese Taiko Workshops into many Schools in the UK (Mainstream and Special Needs) since 2000.
Taiko is totally accessible and offers many benefits to School Children of all ages and abilities. Liz is keen to see the establishment of After School Taiko Clubs.
A Typical One Day Workshop will include:-

Meditation / Quiet Sitting
Taiko Stance & Posture & Technique
Taiko Base Rhythm/s
Traditional Taiko Rhythms to play alongside the Base Rhythm
Work on Focus & Discipline
Group Work to learn a Taiko Piece
The Children give a Demonstration / Performance of the Taiko Piece learned
Liz believes that Taiko in Schools:-
- provides focus for listening / watching and learning skills
- makes discipline of learning taiko a positive experience
- encourages communication between individual students, so that social boundaries can be broken down and to increase personal confidence
- helps students realise their own different strengths and abilities
Liz Walters Biography Liz has been a Teacher and Performer of Taiko for over 12 years, travelling annually to Japan to help facilitate International Taiko Courses and further her own study. She established the Tamashii Performance Group in 2000 and has regularly performed internationally with many renowned World Musicians.
